Oaklands Lodge is a large two storied house built in 1910. It has since been converted into a Backpacker hostel. who's owners pride themselves on providing a clean, compfortable and enjoyable hostel.

It is situated right next to beautiful Mt. Eden, on a tree lined no exit street with plenty of car parking.

Quite literally just around the corner is Mt.Eden Village, a bustling hive of cafes and restaurants. From here a one stage bus can be caught to the city center and other destinations for $1.60 (one stage).

Oaklands Lodge is consistently rated one of Auckland's top backpacker hostels (BBH survey). It has been recognized by Let's Go Recommends 'for being one of the very best... as one of a small number of establishments to receive this commendation.'

Lonely Planet 2002 also states that Oaklands is 'smart and bright accommodation with small garden and friendly staff"
